{"id":46,"date":"2024-10-16T10:07:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-16T08:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ceus-uro.com\/?page_id=46"},"modified":"2026-03-19T11:33:32","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T10:33:32","slug":"bylaws","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ceus-uro.com\/index.php\/bylaws\/","title":{"rendered":"BYLAWS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bylaws of the Central European Urological Society (CEUS)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission of the CEUS<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mission of the Central European Urological Society (CEUS) is to serve as a leading platform for state-of-the-art training and research in urology throughout Central Europe, to foster the development of empowered, next-generation urologists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Operational Functions of the CEUS<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The CEUS shall organize the Central European Meeting (CEM) annually.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The CEUS shall establish and maintain a close relationship with a peer-reviewed journal relevant to the field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The CEUS shall maintain a website that serves as a comprehensive source of information regarding its activities, events, and initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Society Structure<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Founding Member Countries<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The founding member countries of the CEUS include Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CEUS Board<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The CEUS Board shall consist of seven members, with one representative from each of the seven member societies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Board members are appointed by the CEUS and represent the national societies of the member countries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Board member&#8217;s terms are five years and may be reappointed for consecutive terms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The CEUS Board shall hold a minimum of one meeting per year. Decisions shall be made by a simple majority vote, defined as the highest number of votes cast for any one option, without requiring an absolute majority.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The functions of the CEUS Board members include:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advising the General Secretary and the President,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assisting in the organization of the CEM, particularly as member of the Scientific Committee,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representing the CEUS within their respective national societies,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representing their national societies within the CEM,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Voting on matters affecting the structure and bylaws of the CEUS, such as the admission of new national societies,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serving as a liaison between the CEUS and the national societies of member countries, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting CEUS activities, including the CEM, within their respective countries and beyond.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Secretary<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The CEUS shall have one General Secretary, appointed by the CEUS Board members for a term of three years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The General Secretary may be appointed for a maximum of two consecutive terms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The General Secretary\u2019s functions include:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting the president in the organization of the CEM,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring the financial viability of the CEUS,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting the website responsible member in maintaining the CEUS website,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representing the CEUS, along with the President and all board members, in dealings with other organizations such as the EAU, SIU, AUA, and others,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reporting annually to the CEUS Board on their activities,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Addressing any issues related to the CEUS bylaws by informing the Board and facilitating a vote.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">President<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The CEUS shall have one President, who is elected from among the CEUS Board members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The President\u2019s term shall be one year, starting at the end of the CEM, with a rotating appointment among the member countries. Each country shall appoint a President once within the first seven years, with the same order of countries being perpetuated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The President may not serve as General Secretary concurrently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The President\u2019s functions include:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assisting in the organization of the CEM as a member of the Scientific Committee,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representing the CEUS alongside the General Secretary in engagements with other organizations,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reporting annually to the CEUS Board on their activities,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Addressing any issues related to the CEUS bylaws by informing the Board and facilitating a vote.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Treasurer<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The CEUS shall have one Treasurer, who rotates every three years in conjunction with the General Secretary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Treasurer is appointed by the General Secretary and serves under them to ensure the financial viability and growth of CEUS activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Treasurer shall attend the annual Board meetings but does not have voting rights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Young Innovators<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The CEUS shall include seven Young Innovators, each representing one of the seven member countries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Young Innovators are appointed by their respective national societies and serve a term of three years, with the first transfer occurring in 2023 and subsequent transfers every three years thereafter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Young Innovators may not be appointed for consecutive terms and may not hold any other positions within the CEUS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The functions of the Young Innovators include:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assisting in the organization of the CEM, particularly as members of the Young Scientific Committee,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating content for the CEUS website,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting CEUS activities, including the CEM and website, within their respective countries and beyond,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selecting one representative to report annually to the CEUS Board on their activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Associate Editor<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The CEUS shall have one Associate Editor, who is elected by the CEUS Board members for a term of three years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Associate Editor may not serve concurrently as General Secretary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Associate Editor\u2019s functions include:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representing the interests of the CEUS in its partner journal,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing a three-year plan for review articles and other publication activities for the CEUS,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reporting annually to the CEUS Board on their activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Central European Meeting (CEM) Structure<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Duration of the Meeting<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CEM shall be held over 1.5 days, commencing at 12:00 on Friday and concluding at 18:00 on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Courses<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hands-on and other courses shall be conducted on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Meeting<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The General Meeting on Saturday shall include moderated poster sessions, standard lectures, point-counterpoint discussions, an EAU state-of-the-art lecture (in collaboration with the EAU), a CEUS state-of-the-art lecture (selected by the President), and a two-hour ESU course in collaboration with the ESU\/EAU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gala Dinner<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gala Dinner shall take place on Saturday evening at 19:30, with invitations extended to, at a minimum, the state-of-the-art speakers, CEUS Board members, the President, the General Secretary, the Treasurer, the Associate Editor, and the Young Innovators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Poster Awards<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The top three posters presented by residents shall receive free registration for the EAU Annual Meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Country Competition Awards<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The winning country in the competition shall receive a prize of \u20ac1000.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The second-place country shall receive \u20ac500.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The third-place country shall receive \u20ac300.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Financial Structure<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The General Secretary and the Treasurer are jointly responsible for the finances of the CEM.
